  • Replace both side brake calipers and pistons due to corrosion from tropical storm Gaston flooding.  These parts were located, shipped from Houston and received less than 24 hours later. (Thanks Fletchair!)

  • Engine cowlings were repaired, replacing missing and loose rivets, oil and AP door hinges and one strut snap.  While apart, I cleaned the cowlings inside and out, repainted the landing light retainer ring and replaced the adjustment screws.

  • A new Ameri-King AK-450 and remote panel was installed rather than replace the Narco ELT battery again.  Eddie approved my installation work and did the paperwork.

  • A JPI FS-450 fuel totalizer system was added.  JPI donated it to the Virginia Chapter 99s for their 2004 Fall Sectional in Williamsburg.  I bought it at their fund raising silent auction.  Thanks JPI and 99s!  I mounted the display and Eddie checked my work, installed the transducer and did the paperwork.

  • Install a Davtron M-800 digital clock to replace the original electrically wound clock, which only worked when the engine was running (vibration kept it going). The optional annunciator buzzer was installed in the blank instrument hole just below the clock.

  • The fuel tank selector valve was binding. It was the sealed type, which could not be rebuilt.  I obtained a good used valve from Air Mods NW of the type which can be disassembled and rebuilt .  While the valve was out, I replaced the fuel selector placard with a new one from Fletchair.

  • Replace the carpeting, seat upholstery and trim panels with new material from Airtex.  Both armrest supports were replaced with the new improved PMA parts from Fletchair.   I also removed corroded fasteners and other small parts for shot cleaning and repainting or replacement .  The instrument panel cover was repainted and reinstalled with new defroster hoses.

  • Miscellaneous: Replace: primer o-rings, elevator trim bushings, intake tube coupling hoses.  A suspected stall horn problem was determined to be low battery voltage.  The battery was later found to be defective (after being down by leaving the map light on) and was replaced in June.  An Avmap EKP-IV GPS was added in June as well, positioned in the blank space above the radios.  Also, two new, inexpensive H-40A headsets were obtained from Aircraft Spruce and are used with a portable intercom.

  • Vertical card compass. (installed 9/11/2005)
